DIGNAN RACING MOVES UP TO 8TH IN CHAMPIONSHIP

Reflection on half a season of Ginetta racing
As I sit in PH Towers staring out of the window at the sun rays bouncing off the Thames it gives me time to reflect on the season so far. Secretly when you enter a championship you think that you have a sneaky chance of winning it, getting spotted by a big team, offered a drive for Le Mans, and then move to Monaco. In reality you get halfway through the season and take stock.
Since picking up the car I have struggled to get used to the different driving style needed for Ginetta racing compared to the classic MGs I had raced before. Of the top 10 drivers in the championship everyone except Russel McCarthy and I have raced at least one season in the car.

Team PH turn into weather predictors, we wont give up the day job
April showers. It has been a while since this phrase was applicable to April, but for this year it has been. As the Texaco Havoline Ginetta Championship - like quite a lot of championships these days - has a controlled wet and a controlled dry tyre (both supplied by Michelin) this makes April a tricky month for the British racer.
Formula one teams have dedicated weather personnel studying the latest data from satellite imagery. Team PH were nearly as sophisticated using the looking up at the sky method, checking out the BBC’s rainfall chart on a phone and calling someone’s aunt who lives nearby to see if it was raining there. Maybe we should start a topic in the PH forums on race day and get everyone to submit their current climate readings. That would be one step ahead of the F1 teams...
