BROTHER AND SISTER COMBINE FOR SUCCESS AT SILVERSTONE
28th June 2007

Peter and Suzanne Dignan secure podium in two driver race

Siblings secure third place

In conditions more apt for powerboat racing the sibling partnership from Loughborough - sharing the Luffield MGZR - managed to gain a third in class in the 30 minute, 2 driver, pit stop race. From a field of 44 cars they started 18th on the grid - 8th in class - and in conditions of heavy rain, Peter took the car to 4th overall and to 1st in class as the power deficit on the v8 cars was equalised before handing over to Suzy. As the conditions changed lap by lap Suzy did well to keep the car on the track and after a spin and recovery the drivers were please to secure a top ten finish overall and third in class, in what was a dramatic and exciting race.

LOUGHBOROUGH COUPLE GAIN TOP PLACING ON INTERNATIONAL CLASSIC RALLY
12th June 2007

John and Pauline Dignan win a top place in the Three Castles Rally

Winning couple

Last week saw John and Pauline Dignan win a top place in the Three Castles Rally in their MGA Roadster classic sports car. Based in Llandudno, an international field of 126 cars battled for three days in the mountains, valleys and coastal plains of North Wales. The competition included precise regularity timing on minor roads and flat out motoring on airfields, stately homes and other non-public roads and tracks.

After the first day John and Pauline had 10 seconds of penalty and were lying first in class and ninth overall, following six special tests and one regularity section. The pace quickened on the second day, with a 7 am start from the Promenade, four regularities and six more special tests, including a hill climb with 25 corners and nearly two miles in length. Best Lady, the Shirley Stafford Trophy and the Best Novice Trophy

Suzy Dignan's collects her trophys

2006 proved to be an exciting start to Suzy’s motor racing career. It all kicked off in June when a three-day elimination camp saw her see off 84 rival women all with the same dream - to race in the Formula Woman Championship, driving fully race prepared Caterham Roadsport race cars.

The 8-round double header races were held from July to September at Pembrey, Mallory Park, Brands Hatch and Snetterton. Suzanne finished a satisfying 6th place overall, won the Team Trophy and set fastest lap in the last race. Suzanne also managed to squeeze in 8 sprints and 4 hill-climbs with the MG Luffield Cars Speed Championship and finished an impressive 5th overall (from some 84 competitors). She also won Best Lady, the Shirley Stafford Trophy and the Best Novice Trophy. More...
